The Immigration Services Agency of Japan announced preliminary figures for the "Specified Skilled Worker" residence status at the end of August. The number of foreigners residing with this status reached 87,472, a significant increase of 76% in just six months. By country/region, Vietnam continues to rank first with 5,2748 people (60.3% of the total), followed by Indonesia in second place, the Philippines in third place, China in fourth place, and Myanmar in fifth place. By sector, food and beverage manufacturing continues to have the most with 29,617 people, followed by manufacturing with 17,865 people and agriculture with 11,469 people.
